Victorian turquoise and enamel ring
Victorian turquoise and enamel ring
This little ring has certainly lived a life or several! Hailing from the first half of the Victorian era she is stamped for 1858 (see note under stamps). Charming with black enamel shoulders and turquoise stone inside star setting (closed back to ring) it appears she has graced the lithe fingers of a few ladies in her time.
Stamps P & S, 9 .375, anchor, J
This J is placed upside down, could be interpreted as an 'r' if read in alignment with the previous hallmarks. This would date the ring for 1815. Due to condition and style of the ring it is more likely 1858.
Additional J in oval located under bridge of ring
Ring size K 1/2

Condition age related wear: turquoise has a chip at base of setting. Scratching to inside of ring. Evidence of having had alterations (resizing) previously.
