A wonderfully characterful antique sterling silver vesta case, engraved with the wonderfully irreverent inscription, "In Mem. The Blighter." Who the unfortunate "blighter" was is anyone's guess, but the sentiment has clearly outlived them. Whether it was a playful farewell, a good-natured tease or an inside joke between friends, it's the sort of engraving that instantly sparks curiosity.
Finely engraved with a crisp ivy leaf design, the vesta case still retains a few matches - later additions rather than from the original period of the piece, but a charming reminder of its original purpose.
