A beautiful vintage silver rivière necklace, featuring a continuous uniform row of vibrant purple paste stones in traditional closed-back silver settings and integrated clasp. The closed backs enhance the richness and depth of colour, giving the stones a lovely intensity as they catch the light.
The silver tests at approximately 850-880 fineness, rather than the British 925 standard. This lower silver fineness is a recognised European or Continental standard commonly used in jewellery during the early to mid-20th century, consistent with the style and construction of the necklace.
The necklace sits beautifully on the neckline and is finished with a secure hidden tongue-and-groove clasp. An extender has been added and allows the necklace to be worn slightly longer, offering a little more flexibility in how it sits.
The rich purple stones make a striking statement, while the classic rivière design keeps the piece easy to wear. A lovely vintage example with beautiful colour, traditional silver construction and plenty of character.
